Congrats to our Seniors!!
On February 22nd we celebrated our 8 Seniors and their minor hockey careers! Thank you to all family, friends and former Sabres teammates for coming out to celebrate this major achievement.

#12 Sophia Chard
Hockey has been Sophia’s passion, her escape, and source of enjoyment. It’s given us
countless memories, those unforgettable moments that make every ounce of sweat worth it.
Over the years, the hard work—the early 6am practices, the late nights, and the countless
hours spent with development coaches like Dino Felicetti, Jarret Reid and Jeff Gilligan.
Thank you to Appleby College, the coaches who’ve guided Sophia, the teammates who’ve
pushed her, and the supporters who’ve always believed in her.
Special shout outs to coaches Phil Kavanaugh, Becky Keller, Leon Petersen, Mike
Vaillancourt and Taylor & Spencer Abbott.
A huge thank you to the Stoney Creek Sabres organization!
We are so proud of Sophia and look forward to watching her continue to learn and grow
over the next four years in the NCAA at Dartmouth College.

2023 with the Sabres.

is enrolled in the Health Sciences Program.

#18 Laci Boyd
Laci travelled here from Nova Scotia to play one season with the Stoney Creek Sabres.
A highlight for Laci was winning 6 Nova Scotia Provincial Championships, 2 Atlantic
Championships and attending the Esso Cup.
Laci will be heading back home following the season to play for St. Francis Xavier University
in her hometown where she is enrolled in the Health Sciences Program.
Laci was extremely fortunate to be billeted this year.
Despite having won some big championships in her hockey career, the biggest win for Laci
was being part of the amazing VanNetten family.
Thank you Mike, Sarah and Holly!

#19 Hayden Summers
Who knew from Hayden’s first steps on the ice at the age of 3, that we would be here in
Stoney Creek celebrating this moment.
Hayden’s love for the game has taken her to many places over the years. A big thank you to
all the coaches and players who have supported her along the way.
Hayden, we love you and you make us all so proud. Not only because of the amazing
hockey player that you have become, but also because of the amazing young woman we
see in front of us! You are a great role model for our community.
Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance is something we all admire. These are just a
few reasons why you are destined for great things and we will be there every step of the
way. We will always be your biggest fans.

#22 Peyton Anzivino
Peyton has been a Stoney Creek Sabre for 10 years.
Anyone who knows Peyton knows she plays with fire in her belly and a relentless
competitive spirit. She is fearless, giving her all every time she steps on the ice.
Among her many incredible coaches, Taylor Abbott has had the biggest influence, guiding
her for five years, thank you, Taylor!
A big thank you to Spencer and Scott for the last 3 years too.
The highlights of Peyton’s hockey journey include representing Team Ontario at nationals
and winning the Esso Cup with her U18 teammates—memories she will cherish forever.
Next up: the University of Connecticut! Over the next four years, we can't wait to watch her
grow as a person, student, and athlete.
Peyton, we hope you know just how incredibly proud we are of you!

#27 Holly VanNetten
This is Holly’s 7th season playing as a Sabre and Holly and her family could not be any more
appreciative of her time here.
This team has been privileged with the very best coaching staff and thank you to Taylor who
has had such an impact on all these girls and made them better.
Thanks to Spencer, Scott, Mike Ellis, Jenna and Makayla this year for all your time and
effort.
There are many highlights and championships won, but most highly remembered forever
will be a week in Prince Albert and an Esso Cup win.
The team has given lifelong friends that Holly and her family will never forget.
Now Holly will be moving on to Erie Pennsylvania playing with the Mercyhurst Lakers.
We wish you the best of luck and we are so proud of you Holly.

#31 Tara Bach
Tara chose hockey as her sport as a five year old when her family moved to Canada from Germany. She saw girls hockey teams on the ice when she was learning to skate and decided she wanted to play.
She played for the Oakville Hornets for 7 seasons before moving to Stoney Creek as an under-ager in U18 AA. That first season with the Sabres will always special to her as she finished Provincials with 4 shut outs in 4 starts including quarters, semis and the finals against North York. This team went on to win the Esso Cup against Fraser Valley and wrote history for Stoney Creek.
In 2024 Tara represented Germany at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon, South Korea winning a Bronze medal. Later in the year she was invited to the OWHA High Performance camp, selected to represent Ontario and her team went on to win U18 Nationals in Quispamis, NB.
In 2025 Tara represented Germany at the U18 Div 1A World Championships in Budapest, Hungary winning another Bronze.
Tara is looking forward to continuing her academic and athletic career at Mercyhurst University this fall. She would like to thank her parents, her goaltending coaches, especially Steven Derkach and Christina Kessler, as well as the coaching staff in Stoney Creek under Taylor Abbott for their unwavering support and guidance.

could walk.
She has been a Stoney Creek Sabre for 10 seasons.
Her biggest highlight would be winning the Esso Cup in 2023 where she received MVP
honours.
Madi would like to thank all her teammates, coaches and coaching staff for their support
over the years.
Madi will be continuing her journey at Minnesota-Duluth University majoring in
Criminology.
