General Duties of the Board of Directors
Members of the Executive Committee are elected for two-year term at the SCGHA Annual General Meeting. The Executive Committee has control of all the affairs of the SCGHA and the primary responsibility for achieving its objectives. The Executive Committee has the responsibility to appoint such sub committees, as it considers necessary, in order to assist in its responsibilities.
Members of the Executive Committee must meet the requirements as listed in the SCHGA Constitution and By Laws.
President
Day to day management of association as directed by Executive – second signature for banking or any other legal documents; website content and management; fully versed in all roles within Executive committee; chair of meetings.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 1-2 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
OWHL liaison via email or phone.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; advanced knowledge of league, association, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; supervision or management skills.
Vice President
Maintain association rules, regulations, by laws and policies. Maintain OWHA, Hockey Canada rules, regulations and policies for association documentation. Convene discipline-hearing meetings; convene panels if required; duties as assigned by President.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 1-2 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; advanced knowledge of league, association, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; supervision or management skills.
Treasurer
Day to day management of association financial accounts – primary signature for banking or any other legal documents; responsible for preparing deposits and issuing cheques for payment of association debts; maintain accurate financial records and reports; report to accounting firm; duties as assigned by President.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 1-2 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; knowledge of basic accounting and software, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; supervision or management skills.
Secretary
Day to day management of association as directed by Executive – maintain accurate accounts of association meeting minutes; record and distribute minutes; possible 3rd signing signature for banking and legal documents; prepare documentation for City or OWHA as required; obtain membership for AGM; duties as assigned by President.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 2 hours of work related items; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; advanced knowledge of league, association, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; able to record, inscribe, meeting notes; organizational skills.
Rep Director
Day to day management of association as liaison between Rep teams and Executive – point of contact for all league concerns (schedule, team creation, suspensions, etc.) for all Rep teams; relay all information regarding rules and deadlines for all Rep SCGHA teams; schedule coaches meeting for Rep; communicate all Executive information as it relates to Rep level.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 2-3 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; advanced knowledge of league, association, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; supervision or management skills.
HL Director
Day to day management of association as liaison between HL teams and Executive – point of contact for all league concerns (schedule, team creation, suspensions, etc.) for all HL teams; relay all information regarding rules and deadlines for all HL SCGHA teams; schedule coaches meeting for HL; communicate all Executive information as it relates to HL level.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 1-2 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; advanced knowledge of league, association, OWHA, Hockey Canada rules and regulations; good understanding of Safety and teamwork materials as to how they relate to hockey; supervision or management skills.
Marketing Director
Management of branding and association sponsorships; coordinating social media presence, website, and association messaging; approval of exclusive vendors and branded products; oversight and management of association events and celebrations; duties as assigned from President.
Time commitment varies but requirements are daily basis – 1-2 hours a day; 2-hour Executive meetings bi weekly; various duties as assigned.
Skills - strong verbal and written English; internet and computer literate; good organizational skills; sales and presentation skills.
Equipment Coordinator
Day to day management of coordination of equipment purchases and inventory of it; facilitate purchase through association supplier of all equipment (jersey/socks/spirit wear/merchandise); maintain all used goalie equipment and maintain log listing of users of such; facilitate the vendor sales of bags, masks, merchandise; duties as assigned from President.
