Stoney Creek Sabres DS Information for the 2024/2025 Season

Stoney Creek Sabres DS

For those unfamiliar to Development Stream (DS) it is a subset of the House League Program, offering a tryout-based, enhanced opportunity for House League players who are:

  • Looking for a development bridge to competitive hockey or
  • Do not wish to make the commitment, in time or cost, to competitive hockey but am seeking more competition and skill development that is afforded by house league alone

DS teams will carry 15 players and 2 goalies.   Please keep in mind if more than 15 players &/or 2 goalies are interested there will be cuts made.

There is an additional cost to play DS.  These costs would include entry costs for up to 2 tournaments, 4 exhibition games & 6 practices.  We would also receive 4 away exhibition games as well.  Yes, DS is a big commitment, in addition to the "normal" house league schedule.

Each team decides on which tournament to enter which are scheduled between January to April this season.  Most teams have played in 2 tournaments each season in the past.

We work to schedule exhibition games and practices where they do not conflict with house league games but could be on the same day.

DS tryouts are scheduled for the following dates:

  •           U9 – Not offered by OWHA this season
  •          U11 – Wednesday November 13th at Gateway # 3 (Yellow) at 5:45 pm for 1 hour
  •          U13 – Wednesday November 13th at Gateway # 3 (Yellow) at 6:45 pm for 1 hour
  •          U15 – Wednesday November 13th at Gateway # 3 (Yellow) at 7:45 pm for 1 hour
  •          U18 – Monday November 4th at Saltfleet at 8:00 pm for 1 hour
  •          U22 – Not offered by OWHA this season
