The SCGHA would like to congratulate Sabres alumnae Brianne Jenner, Sarah Nurse, Kristin O'Neill and - for the first time - Megan Carter to being named to the 2022/2023 Rivalry Series roster!
The Women's National Team is facing off against the USA in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series, a seven-game competition featuring the two world powers. After three games, Team USA is up 3-0 and can capture the Rivalry Series title with one more win, as the series shifts to Las Vegas (Dec. 15) and Los Angeles (Dec. 19).
The U.S. and Canada have battled in the gold-medal game of every IIHF Women’s World Championship and Olympic Winter Games staged, with just two exceptions (2019 World Championship, 2006 Olympics).
Previously, the 2019-20 Rivalry Series included five games - two in December and the final three games in February. Team USA won the series 4-1, including an overtime win in the final on Feb. 8 in front of a record-breaking 13,320 fans in Anaheim, Calif.
The Rivalry Series was introduced by Hockey Canada and USA Hockey in the 2018-19 season and comprised three games between the women’s national teams of the two countries.
