Format
Division: 26 U22AA (JR) Teams – Division: 34 U18AA
Each team will play 4 games during the Round Robin portion on Friday and Saturday

U22AA Division
Placed 1 st through 6 or #1 through 8
Gold Division: semi and final
Semi-final: 1 st Place teams in each division
Silver Division: semi and final
Semi-final: 2nd Place teams in each division
Remaining Teams
Remaining Teams will play a 5 th game on Sunday
Example: 3 rd in Jenner vs 3 rd in Fortino etc.

U18AA Division
Placed 1 st through 8 or #1 through 10
Gold Division: semi and final
Semi-final: 1 st Place teams in each division
Silver Division: semi and final
Semi-final: 2nd Place teams in each division
Remaining Teams
Remaining Teams will play a 5 th game on Sunday
Example: 3 rd in Sabatine vs 3 rd in McKibbon etc.
Rules for Competition

Hockey Canada rules shall be followed for all games.
U22/Jr Teams: No Hybrid Icing and you can change after an Icing Call


COVID Protocols will be provided for both Teams and Spectators before the start of the
event and must be communicated to all planning on attended and all Procedures must be
followed.

Game Length (All Games)

All games will consist of 3 x 15-minute (stop-time) periods. If tied after regulation time, there
will be a 3-minute Overtime period as follows: Flood every two periods. No Time Out
except Medal Games

Round Robin Games
A 3-minute (stop-time) 4 on 4 Overtime Period will be played. See Overtime Rules below. If
game is still tied at the end of the OT period, it will be considered a Tie (ie. no shootout).

Start of Game

PLEASE BE PREPARED TO START 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED GAME
TIME.
Teams wills be allowed 3 minutes to warm-up (time permitting) before the game.

Rink Resurfacing

The ice will be resurfaced at the end of every 2 periods of consecutive play. Teams will be
notified before their games if any change in the flood schedule is to be made.
The ice will not be resurfaced prior to overtime; overtime will be considered as part of the
preceding period. The Tournament Committee retains the right to alter the resurfacing
schedule if the need arises.

Round Robin Overtime Rules
ALL OVERTIME GAMES (4 ON 4): Each team will use 4 players plus a goalie (4 on 4).
Teams will not switch ends. If a penalty is called the teams will play 4 on 3. If a second
penalty is called against the same team, the teams will play 5 on 3 and could play 5 on 5 or 5
on 4 if penalties expire during play. If this occurs the teams will play 5 on 5 or 5 on 4 until the
next whistle and then revert back to 4 on 4 or 4 on 3.

Placement Non-Medal Games (SUNDAY):
A 3-minute (stop-time) 4 on 4 Overtime Period will be played. See Overtime Rules below. If
game is still tied at the end of the OT period, it will be considered a Tie (ie. no shootout).
Gold and Bronze Games
A 5-minute (stop-time) 4 on 4 Overtime Period will be played. See Overtime Rules below. If
game is still tied at the end of the OT period, a 3 player NHL style Shootout will take place. If
still tied, a Sudden Victory Shootout will continue until a winner is decided. See Shootout Rules below.

Shootout Rules

· The Shootout will consist of each team sending out 3 shooters. If still tied after 3
shooters, each team will send out 1 shooter at a time until a winner is determined.
· Players are to be sent to centre ice one at a time. Coaches do not need to name
shooters ahead of time on the game sheet. Timekeeper will record Shooters # on the
game sheet.
· Shots will be taken one at a time with the Visiting Team going first.
· No player can take a second shot until all players (excluding the goalies) have taken a
shot (second shots do not have to follow the same order). . If team has 14 skaters
eligible to shoot and B team has 15 skaters eligible to shoot A team can start again
after their 14 th shooter and B after their 15 th shooter.
· A player that is in the Penalty Box for whatever reason at the end of the Overtime
period or has been ejected from the game cannot participate in the Shootout.

Timeouts

NO TIMEOUTS DURING ROUND ROBIN PLAY or SUNDAY PLACEMENT GAMES.
Each team will be allowed only one 30 second timeout in the GOLD or BRONZE
GAMES. It may be taken during regulation or the overtime period. There will be no extra
timeout granted if the game has an overtime period.

Final Division Standings (Tiebreaker Rules)
If there is a tie in points after the round robin games, the following tiebreakers will be used to break
the tie:
(1) Record against other tied teams;
(2) Most wins in round robin (Overtime win is a win)
(3) Fewest goals allowed in round robin play;
(4) Goals scored minus goals against in round robin play;
(5) Fewest penalty minutes in round robin play;
(6) Earliest First goal scored in Round Robin
(7) Flip of a coin.

Examples:
First Tiebreaker (Head to Head)
If 3 teams are tied for 1st place with 4 points each and no one defeated the other 2 teams proceed to
tiebreaker #2
Second Tiebreaker (Most Wins)
If teams had the same amount of wins then proceed to tiebreaker #3
Third Tiebreaker (Fewest Goals allowed)
Goals Allowed: Team #1: 3 GA, Team #2: 5 GA, and Team #3: 5 GA.
Team #1 would be awarded 1st place due to the fewest goals allowed
Forth Tiebreaker (Goals for – Goals against)
Team #2 and Team #3 are still tied with 5 goals against then the next tiebreaker is plus/minus in which Team
#2 would be awarded second place with a +7 vs Team # 3 with a +6. (In a 3- way tie when one team is
awarded a position the remaining teams continue on with the tie breaking rules – Head to Head winner only
matters if one or more team(s) has defeated other team(s) in the first tiebreaker.)
Fifth Tiebreaker (Fewest Penalty Minutes)
Sixth Tiebreaker (Earliest Goal scored in Round Robin)
Seventh Tiebreaker (Flip of Coin)
This Tournament is part of the 2021-2022 season, which is not set as the current season.
